Sometimes I see people escorting, I assume, foreign exchange students around the city. Giving them a sort of tour. I'm studying Japanese and I've been thinking that this would be a great opportunity for me to practice and improve while helping some newbies get to know their new home. So, does anyone know where one goes to get hooked up with this kind of position, what kind of requirements there are, etc?
i'm looking to celebrate my birthday at a nice french restaurant so my main concern is one that can accommodate approximately 20 people and isn't too expensive (ie. under $30 for a main). i've looked at some reviews of some popular ones like jules, faux bourgeois, salade de fruits, bistro pastis, etc... but i can't seem to decide. any help would be appreciated, thanks!
Hello Vancouver!
I'm moving tomorrow, and I have some choice pieces of furniture that need to be out of my house by December 31! Pictures and links to Craigslist posts under the cut.
All pieces come from a smoke-free home with one cat. Located in Surrey, near the Gateway skytrain station.
( table, desk, entertainment unit, and couch! )

I'm looking for a Chinese/Asian blanket for my parents. They're the super heavy, double layered bed blankets usually with a lot of floral work.
My parents usually get them from vendors at flea markets, but the one on Kingsway closed down and I don't think I have time to make it to the one on Terminal/Main.
It's a last minute idea and I have no time to go from store to store in Chinatown or Richmond, so any specific names of stores or shopping malls would help the most. Thank you!

I've been having breathing problems lately and need to find a specialist who can help me find the cause. Does anyone here know of any good doctors to recommend who specialize in this sort of thing? Any information is appreciated.
Does anyone know where they sell Nilla Wafers? I'm not sure if they are US only. I want them to make rum balls.
Well I've had a blast thanks Vancouver! Today I fly back across the pond.
Your hints and tips were appreciated, I didn't get round half the things I wanted to. I will just have to come back again, ahh the hardship.
Highlights include:
Black squirrels (I know can understand the Japanese tourists at home when they get excited about the red and grey ones!)
Raccoons - Want!
Snow Shoeing up Grouse Mountain - This was just amazing!
All the yummy yummy food, diet out of the window. If you haven't been already I highly recommend Vijs. Oh man was the food good. No reservations and a 1.5hr wait was well worth it, not only for the tasty treats they give as you wait. Try the Punjabi heart attacks.
Your rain sucks, just as much as it does at home ;)
Festival of Light - Very much Alice in Wonderland
EDIT:How could I forget...
Granville Island
Poutine -yum¬
Happy Holidays!

Hey all. I am in the Creative Writing program at UBC, and I am writing an article about missed connections (like on Craigslist, or the Georgia Straight "I Saw Yous", etc.) for one of my classes.
I need to interview some people who have had interesting experiences from posting or replying to missed connections ads. It doesn't need to have been successful in finding the person the ad was intended for, but just some sort of interesting result that came about from the ad.
If you have had such an experience and are willing to meet up for an interview, please contact me! I can travel to wherever is convenient for you.
Also, I intend to talk about the reasons why people post or read missed connections ads, so I need to get some quotes from people. If you regularly post/read missed connections, and would like to briefly talk about why you do, please contact me as well. This would not be as detailed, so it need not be in person; it could be over the phone or even through email.
A bit about me: I'm a 21 year-old student at UBC, in the Creative Writing program as aforementioned. I enjoy reading missed connections of course, hence my choice of assignment. I love meeting new people and have done many interviews before.

Anyone know where to get some Ethiopian Berbere powder in downtown or East van? Preferably in bulk because I'd use a lot of it, too.
The other thing I haven't seen since moving here a few months ago is Fine Herbes de Provence, anyone seen a good price for that anywhere?
Thanks!

Heya, a friend has looked all over and cannot find a place that sells mulling spices. They seem to be sold out or don't carry them.
Help would be greatly appreciated ^_^

I've grown very tired of wearing the same jacket that makes me look like a homeless person so I've decided to go out and buy a Hoody. The problem is that I'm a larger figure at XL/XXL and the obvious place of choice to find such a Hoody (Rock Shop, Comic Stores, Wallmart) either don't have what I'm looking for or don't carry XXL sizes (Rock Shop).
So besides ordering online and/or waiting for someone to come to Vancouver where can one find a good hoody?
I know... a weird where would you find it post cause it should be very easy....
It's not.
Thanks.

My boyfriend and I were going to go to the Van Dusen display but found out it costs almost 15 bucks each (WHAAAAAT THE EFFF).... So does anyone know if the Nature Park in Richmond is doing a display? I know they did one last year but when I went, it was closed....
Couldn't find anything on the City of Rmd website nor Google.
Thanks!!

If you were buying good-quality-but-not-too-expensive snowboarding clothing in the city of Vancouver, where would you go?
My parents are in town and they are dismayed by my lack of couch and reading materials. :)
They were thinking choir stuff, or music, or walking around. IDK. They're my parents.

Where might I buy some GOOD cauliflower in this fair city? It seems everywhere I go, the only stuff available is going quite brown or black...
Does anyone know where you can buy cheap authentic Canucks or Capitals Hockey jerseys in Vancouver?
What frequencies do you find are best in the Lower Mainland, that give you the least interference?
I find that 99.7 is generally pretty good, but sometimes, during rush hour, I get a lot of interference.
Am wondering if there are some better frequencies out there? There seem to be so few usable ones in the Lower Mainland.
